Today, I am pleased to let you discover Manue’s cooking blog called “Hum, ça sent bon” (understand “Yum-yum, it smells good”). I like it very much. It is full of delicious recipes. Thank you, Manue, for sharing them with us.

I have tested the

Chocolate Fruitcake

recipe for you. Delightful! We’ve liked both the taste and texture of this delicious cake. Here is a picture of my cake:

Let’s then discover Manue’s recipe:



  • 130 g/4.6 oz butter
  • 130 g/4.6 oz sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 360 g/12.7 oz flour
  • 100 ml milk
  • 1 TL baking powder
  • 100 g candied fruit with lemon
  • 100 g milk chocolate chunks



Preheat the oven to 170°C/338°F.

Mix butter and sugar in a large bowl until smooth. Add the eggs one by one and further mix. Stir in flour and baking powder. Then pour milk into the mixture.

Add candied fruit and chocolate chunks and stir well.

Pour the dough into a silicone mould or a buttered and floured loaf pan. Bake for about 40 minutes.

Hints and tips:

- As I didn’t have any candied fruit with lemon at disposal, I let candied fruit marinate in a freshly pressed lemon juice for 15 minutes.

Otherwise I complied with Manue’s recipe.
